Hello and welcome to my art website entitled 'Schnellart'!

Included are a compilation of my past and present pieces of art either in oil portraits, acrylic paintings or sketches with watercolour, and finally coloured and pencil sketches.

The process of my interest and development in art has been a very long one, beginning in childhood. My Mother provided  me at five years of age with a chalk board and as much paper as I could draw on. This began a process of interest in me which developed throughout my teen years as I completed work and won a small award for my art in Grade 8. Once in my 20's a small commission was requested  from the Canadian Cancer Society of a sketch to support cancer efforts. I continued to sketch and paint as a hobby on the side once I married and began a countertop business with my husband, still doing art of various sorts on the side.

10 years ago, I began working with a local landscape artist in studies with Harry Sreeves, who taught me to work with layers of acrylic paint. Harry had a wonderful conception of the thrill of painting regardless of the result and taught me to move beyond personal restraints. Sine Harry's death, this is now a part of my desire to continue to move beyond my capacity to capture likenesses.

4 years ago, I also began studies under the tutorage of Podi Lawrence, a gifted portrait artist who teaches and travels painting throughout the world. Podi taught me to master colour in oil painting to attempt to bring portraits to life by the depth of colour. I now hope that I can attempt to show some of the beauty that God creates through ' different eyes' that Podi has taught me to use, hoping that this is seen in my current work.

I also work under the tutorage of local artist Michael Roth who continues to encourage my landscape painting and who also studied under famous artist M. Koussal  who also taught my Mother landscape painting some 40 years ago!

I lost my Mother through alzheimers/dementia in January 2006, so now each painting or likeness is an expression or creativity of all that Mum encouraged within me....so every stroke on the canvas has a sense of healing now. Today I continue to show my works on the internet, in private galleries and also through commissions or ebay.

As a side note, I am an admirer of Jim Caviezel as an actor and have done many images of him shown directly on his personal website.  I've now made a direct link to these works because of the quantity! I've also shown some earlier work of classic actors who will never be forgotten. Some inspiring musicians of great talent are also amongst the pieces to be viewed.

I wish to thank Ben, (17 yrs.) my son and webmaster with the computer art he faithfully presents, my children Stephen(15 yrs.) and Michael (6  yrs.) who are my inspiration, and mostly to David, my beloved husband and positive critic, and lastly and mostly to God who continues to inspire me within!

Welcome to Schnellart!
